La Rioja and Navarra are regions in Northern Spain well-known for excellent wines and wonderful cuisine, not to mention spectacular scenery and vibrant cities. On this eight-day tour we will explore the region from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Pamplona and points in between.
We will start with two nights in the atmospheric city of Vitoria-Gasteiz (capital city of the Spanish Basque Country) with an exploration of some of the city’s sights. We will then proceed to Laguardia, smack dab in the Rioja winemaking area, for two nights, where we will visit several wineries and explore hill towns and countryside. Finally, we will make our way to the city of Pamplona for four nights, where we will have a guided tour of the city and have dinner in one of the famous “Sociedad Gastronómica” culinary clubs. We will also visit a few wineries in Navarra as well as one of the coastal towns, Getaria, where we will taste some of the best anchovies in the world. After the tour is over, it is an easy hour to San Sebastian where you can spend a couple of days on your own.
